What it is
Oral testosterone undecanoate is an esterified form of bioidentical testosterone formulated for oral administration. It uses the lymphatic absorption pathway to reduce first-pass liver metabolism.
How it works
Like injectable testosterone, oral testosterone supplies exogenous androgen for patients with documented clinical hypogonadism. Oral dosing offers needle-free administration but has different pharmacokinetics (multiple daily doses, food-dependent absorption).

- Recent labs: total testosterone, free testosterone, estradiol, hematocrit, PSA, CMP, lipid panel
- Prostate history and family history
- Cardiovascular history, particularly blood pressure
- Fertility plans (testosterone therapy suppresses fertility)
- Meal timing (oral testosterone requires food for absorption)
Considerations
Published literature notes potential effects similar to injectable testosterone, plus considerations specific to oral dosing such as blood pressure monitoring. Ongoing labs are standard.
