What it is

Enclomiphene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). It is one of two isomers of clomiphene. Unlike testosterone replacement, it acts upstream on the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis.

How it works

By blocking estrogen feedback at the hypothalamus and pituitary, enclomiphene supports the body’s own production of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which signal the testes to produce testosterone.

Who your provider may consider it for

Your Orbit Health prescriber may consider enclomiphene for adult men with documented secondary hypogonadism who want to preserve fertility or avoid exogenous testosterone.

What your provider will discuss with you

  • Recent lab work: total and free testosterone, LH, FSH, estradiol, prolactin
  • Symptom history (energy, libido, mood, body composition)
  • Fertility considerations
  • Cardiovascular and visual history
  • Prior hormone therapy history

Considerations

Published literature on SERMs notes potential effects such as visual changes, mood changes, and breast tenderness. Your prescriber will review individual risk and monitoring intervals.

Regulatory note. Compounded enclomiphene capsules are not FDA-approved. Clomiphene citrate is FDA-approved for an unrelated indication; isomer-specific enclomiphene formulations are compounded and not branded FDA-approved products.

Federal regulations (FDA compounding regulations) and state medical board rules govern what your Orbit Health prescriber can lawfully prescribe to you. See our full regulatory disclosure for active state and federal regulations affecting availability.
